New Border Measures (29) apply to those arriving in Japan after 00:00 June 10th, 2022 (JST). The regulation keeps changing, so please check on the latest information of the Japanese government.
On-arrival COVID-19 tests and home isolation period after entry into Japan
This section offers information about Japanese border measures, including required documents, quarantine, and restrictions. Your quarantine depends on the classification of the country or region of your stay before arriving in Japan, and your vaccination status. Vaccination certificate can be approved only valid vaccines by the Japanese government.

- Another test will be administered on the 3rd day. Isolation requirements will be lifted if your results are negative for this test. If you do not take the test, you will be required quarantine for a total of 7 days.

Grouping of the country or region of your stay before arriving in Japan

- The vaccination certificateis valid only if criteria ①to ④below are met.
- ①The certificate must be issued by a government or public institution.
- ②The following items must be indicated in Japanese or English:Name, date of birth, vaccine name/manufacturer, date of vaccination, number of doses administered
- ③The certificate must clearly indicate that you have received two doses from among the following vaccines (vaccine name/manufacturer):
- Comirnaty/Pfizer
- Vaxzevria/AstraZeneca
- COVID 19 Vaccine ModernaModerna
- Janssen COVID 19 Vaccine/Janssen
- COVAXIN/Bharat Biotech
- Nuvaxovid/Novavax
※Regarding the application of measures based on Japan's Enhanced Border Measure (27), Comirnaty(manufactured by FosunPharma/BioNTech) and Covishield(manufactured by the Serum Institute of India with technology from AstraZeneca) will be treated as identical to Comirnaty/Pfizer and Vaxzevria/AstraZeneca, respectively.
- ④The certificate must clearly indicate that you have received at a third dose, with it being one of the following vaccines (vaccine name/manufacturer):
- Comirnaty/Pfizer
- COVID 19 Vaccine ModernaModerna
- Nuvaxovid/Novavax
- Vaxzevria/AstraZeneca (effective from June 26th, 2022)
- JCOVDEN/Janssen (effective from June 26th, 2022)
※Regarding the application of measures based on Japan's Enhanced Border Measure (28), Comirnaty (manufactured by Fosun Pharma/BioNTech), as well as Covishield and COVOVAX (manufactured by the Serum Institute of India) will be treated as identical to Comirnaty/Pfizer, Vaxzevria/AstraZeneca and Nuvaxovid/Novavax, respectively.

Pre-departure test FOR ALL
All entrants must presentation a certificate of inspection within 72 hours before leaving the country. If you are unable to presentation a valid certificate of inspection, you will not be allowed to enter in Japan based on the Quarantine Law.

Requirements for Certificate of Testing for Entering Japan (PDF)
Inspection certificates are valid only if they meet the following conditions.
- ■Within 72 hours from the date of sample collection to the departure time of the flight.
- ■Please use the prescribed format, if you cannot use the prescribed format, you may use arbitrary format. For using arbitrary format, the prescribed conditions must be included in the inspection certificate.

Note: At Returning: PCR test might be required before your departure from Japan by your country. We strongly recommend you to check the regulation of your country.
Questionnaire for Quarantine FOR ALL
Everyone must submit Questionnaire at Japanese quarantine. Please cooperate to use"Fast Track"system, which you can complete quarantine procedures via app before entering Japan. This can shorten the time required for entry procedures at the airport.
Note: Fast Track is available for those entering from Narita International Airport, Haneda Airport, Chubu Centrair International Airport, Kansai International Airport, Fukuoka Airport.

INFORMATION FROM THE SECRETARIAT
Period of VISA support that can be supported by the Secretariat
The maximum visa support period for foreign delegates is 12 days.
Itemization: 1 day for entry day + 1 day for return day + 3 days for the ACD session period + 7 days for maximum quarantine
Note: Although travel itineraries are included as part of the VISA support documents issued by the Secretariat, the Secretariat is unable to support itineraries for personal matters not related to participation in the ACD meetings.
Support during the isolation period
No assistance will be provided by the Organizing Committee.
Participants are responsible for arranging and paying for their own accommodation during the isolation period.
Purchasing travel medical insurance
Participants are highly recommended to purchase their own travel medical insurance before traveling to Japan, as they may become ill during their stay in Japan.
VISA APPLICATION FOR FOREIGN NATIONALS
Currently, all foreign nationals who wish to newly enter Japan need to apply for a visa except for those with re-entry permit.
Foreign nationals eligible to current measures
Based on New Border Measures (29), from June 10, 2022, foreign nationals who apply for new entry into Japan based on either of the following categories (1), (2) or (3) below are regarded as those with “special exceptional circumstances” and are allowed for new entry into Japan in principle, if the receiving organizations located in Japan complete prescribed applications in the Entrants, Returnees Follow-up System (ERFS).

- Foreign nationals newly entering Japan for a short-term stay (less than three months) for purposes including business and employment
- (2)
- Foreign nationals newly entering Japan for a short-term stay for tourism (only when a travel agency among others organizing the trip serves as the receiving organization of the entrants) note**)
- (3)
- Foreign nationals newly entering Japan for a long-term stay

- Foreign nationals fall under (1), (2), or (3) are required receiving organizations located in Japan.

- Foreign nationals who will be allowed new entry into Japan for the category of the abovementioned (2) will be limited to those who will enter from the countries/regions classified as “Blue” based on the New Border Measures (28) (May 20, 2022, hereinafter referred to as “the Measures (28)” ) The measures will apply only when the country/region in which the entrants stayed within 14 days before the day of application for landing on Japan falls into the group “Blue” based on the Measures (28).
Required documents for the visa application
To apply for a visa, please submit the following required documents to Japan’s overseas establishments in your country / region.
After the application has been successfully accepted, the visa would be issued at the consular affairs section of the Japan’s overseas establishment.

- A certificate for completion of Registration to the ERFS system obtained by a receiving organization through online application,
- (2)
- Letter of guarantee and Invitation Letter issued by the inviting organization. (These documents will be provided through the secretariat.)

- The other required documents for visa application (Please see “VISA” page for more details).
- Note-1:
- The Japan Dietetic Association (JDA) will act as the Receiving Organization which invites the entrants for ACD2022. Please submit the application form to apply for ERFS and VISA that will be uploaded to “My Page” of the registration site. Details will be notified to the registrant by the secretariat at a later date.
- Note-2:
- A certificate for completion of Registration to the ERFS system means a proof of document issued by ERFS of Ministry of Health, Labourand Welfare after JDA apply and register ACD2022 entrant’s information online.
- Note-3:
